Rose A. Hartzheim, age 92, formerly of Horicon, died on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.The visitation for Rose will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. John Hedrick officiating. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Juneau.The former Rose Angeline Wollet was born on April 23, 1922 in Jefferson, Wisconsin to Joseph and Adelheid (Blasel) Wollet. She graduated from Jefferson High School and went on to work for the Department of Agriculture doing clerical work for the Farmers Home Administration office in Jefferson. After the Jefferson office closed, she transferred to the Juneau office. Rose was united in marriage with Leo Joseph Hartzheim on December 28, 1968. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Juneau, now Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon, where she was a member of the Christian Women. She was also a member of the Juneau American Legion Auxiliary, Post #15.Survivors are her husband, Joe Hartzheim of Horicon Manor; son, Mike (Kay) Peters of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, David Peters, Tom Peters, Dan Peters, Brian Peters-Hall, and Becky Peters-Hall; ten grandchildren; three step grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia Deniger; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Charles Baerwald, age 75, of Horicon passed away on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9th, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon with Rev. Mark Hasty officiating. A vistiation for Chuck will be held on Saturday, August 9th from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church in Horicon. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.Chuck was born on January 3rd, 1939 in Horicon, the son of Emil and Flossie (Daubert) Baerwald. He was a 1956 graduate of Horicon High School. On July 11th, 1959 he married Lorraine Neitzel at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon. In 1956 Chuck received his Journeyman Plumbing License. He worked for Marohl Plumbing and Heating from 1959-1969. In 1969 he went to Milwaukee and joined Plumbers Local #75. He retired in June of 1997.Chuck is survived by his wife of 55 years- Lorraine of Horicon. His children-Ken (Betty) Baerwald of Elkhorn, Dave (Tracy) Baerwald of Greenville, OH., Sharon Weber of Juneau, and Sandra Baerwald of Portland, OR. His 8 grandchildren- Craig, Keith, Kollin, Aaron, Megan, Justin, Jesse, and Olivia. 2 step grandchildren- Tara and Amber. 3 step great grandchildren- Paige, Levi, and Audrey. His 2 sisters- Lila Mae (Robert) Bachhuber and Charlotte Baerwald. His brother- Emil (Ione) Baerwald. His sister in law- Shirley Baerwald and brother in law- Chester Voight. Marlen E. Zirbel, age 92, of Horicon, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.Visitation for Marlen will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, 716 Clinton Street in Horicon, on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 11:30 AM to 12:50 PM. He worked at Hoefs Gravel Pit as a Heavy Equipment Operator and then, for 34 years, at Gehl Company in West Bend. Marlen was a member of the Hexelbank Club, a group of retirees from Gehl. Marlen enjoyed gardening and he absolutely adored his grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Gloria Zirbel of Horicon; twin sons, Jon (Wendy) Zirbel of Juneau and Jan Zirbel of Horicon; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Natalia, Cory, and Chase; his sister, Vera Schmidt of Hustisford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ann H. Buzzell, 88, of Horicon passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.No formal funeral services will be held.Ann was born to Michael and Anna Zack on April 28, 1926 in Browns Corners, Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to D.W. Buzzell. She was employed by and retired from the Dodge County Health Center in Juneau as a CNA. Ann was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon. She enjoyed taking walks and reading.Ann is survived by: two children- Stuart Buzzell of Horicon, and Melody Buzzell of Lake Havasu, Arizona; her granddaughter- Jennifer Buzzell of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren- Adam and Brianna Buzzell; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister Margaret, and one brother Edward.
Mary C. Richards, age 58, of Madison, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 10 at 12 o’clock noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Petri presiding. Visitation will be held on on Friday, October 10 from 10 am until the time of the service at noon at the church. Interment will take place at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon, WI. with a luncheon to follow back at the church.Mary was born the daughter of Leroy & Lauretta (Holbach) Peters on July 22, 1956 in Beaver Dam, WI. She was a graduate of Horicon High School and attended UW Madison. She was employed as a legal assistant for over 27 years working with Attorney Richard Pitzner. One of her greatest honors of her life was working for Attorney Pitzner at both Murphy Desmond and Dewitt Ross & Stevens. She had many wonderful co-workers and friends. Mary especially treasured the friendship of her best friend Jo Jean Murphy for all of her support and love throughout the years- she is the true definition of a friend and Mary will never forget her. She was united in marriage on December 25, 2009 to Edwin Barrington Richards in Madison.Mary is survived by: her mother- Lauretta Peters of Horicon. Her husband Edwin of Madison., Her children- Jason (Sheila) Henry of Madison, Jamie (James) Phillips of Madison, Barrisha B. Richards of Madison, Edwin Richards, Jr. of Madison, and Edwin Richards III of Madison. Her 5 grandchildren- Parker Henry, Preston Henry, Londyn Henry, Kamrun Phillips, and Savanah Phillips. Her siblings- Helen (Ron) Oszuscik of Neosho, Michael Peters of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Philip Peters of Burnett. Her in laws- Loridon (Bernice) Richards of Florida. Robert Cira, age 77, of Horicon, WI, passed away on December 13, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Ginger’s Hideaway in Horicon from 10 am until 12 pm (noon). Robert was born on April 1, 1937 the son of Julius and Mary (Dubnicka) Cira in Menomonee Falls, WI. He was united in marriage to Joan Weber on August 13, 1960 at St. James Catholic Church in Lannon, WI. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a former operating engineer and then with his wife owned and operated the Royal Oaks Motel in Horicon. In his spare time Robert enjoyed ballroom dancing, golf, feeding the birds, and playing sheepshead. Robert was a constant worker and will be fondly remembered as a professional ‘putzer’. Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years- Joan of Horicon. His children- Ruthann Cira of Horicon, Janet (Dave) Bork of Waukesha, Yvonne (Jim) Standridge of Fox Lake, Marion (Cory) Kersting of Mindoro, Gena (Jeff) Dierauer of Waukesha, Robert (Lindsey) Cira of Waukesha, and Mathew Cira of Beaver Dam. His sister- Mary Jane Walters. His 6 grandchildren- Anthony, Andy, Vincent, Nathaniel, Samantha, and Aric. His 3 great grandchildren- Ayden, Luca, and Adriana. Also, his loving companion Rugby. Brenda L. (Vorpahl) Binder, passed away peacefully New Year’s Day, 2015 at Parkside CareCenter in Little Chute, WI. A funeral service for Brenda will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon with the Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Horicon from 4 – 7 pm and again on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the church from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am. Burial will take place at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon, WI.Brenda was born the daughter of Tom and Lucille (nee Bechert) Vorpahl on April 23, 1950 in Beaver Dam. Brenda was a member of the class of 1969 at Horicon High School and had been a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church prior to her move to the Appleton area, where she became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Appleton. She had currently been a resident at Kimberly Assisted Living, prior to her taking ill.Brenda will be remembered for her love of Elvis Presley, Friday night fish frys and dressing up for Packer and Badger games. She loved the holidays and Packer parties. She also looked forward to her Horicon High School class reunions, which her sister Sharon took her to each year. Brenda never forgot who her friends or classmates were. She enjoyed phone calls, cards, letters and visits from family members and classmates.Brenda made numerous friends along the way from her different residences in Horicon, Beaver Dam, Appleton and Kimberly. She will also be remembered by those friends she made thru her kidney dialysis in Appleton for the past three years.Brenda is survived by the joy of her life, her son- Brian (Jennifer) Binder of Arlington, TX. Her granddaughter- Mya. She is further survived by her siblings- Carol Nehls of Watertown, Sharon Bergsma of Appleton, Wayne (Art Vietro) Vorpahl of White Plains, NY and Marion (Jim) Roovers of Kimberly. Elmer W. Rehse, 83, of Horicon passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the UW Hospital in Madison surround by his family.Funeral services for Elmer will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon with the Rev. Mark Hasty officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Horicon and on Wed. Jan. 14th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon with graveside Military Honors by the American Legion Post #157 of Horicon.Elmer was born on August 27, 1931 in Horicon, the son of Elmer and Esther (Neitzel) Rehse. He was a 1948 graduate of Horicon High School.Elmer took over his grandfather’s insurance agency in 1951 and owned and operated The Rehse Agency until his retirement in 1991. He was also co-owner of the Wooden Shingle. He was a member of Zion Lutheran church in Horicon.Elmer was very proud to have served in the US Marines during the Korean War and has been a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post #157 for over 60 years. Elmer was a very active volunteer in Horicon and the surrounding area. He was instrumental in the forming of Rock River Hills Golf Course, co-chairman of Horicon Marsh Days for many years, past member of the Horicon School Board, past president of Horicon Chamber, recipient of the Wall of Fame Award at Horicon High School, secretary of Horicon Baseball Inc. since inception, and the manager of the Horicon Honkers, member of the Isaac Walton League, past president of the Dodge County Independent Insurance Agents, director of the Horicon AA Group, member of the Horicon Oddfellows, member of the board of the New Beginnings Homeless Shelter, member of Horicon Rotary where he has served as past president, co-chair of STRIVE, and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, baseball, and going to the Milwaukee Symphony with the Grigg’s.Elmer is survived by his children, Neal (Kathy) Rehse of Cudahy and Tim (Gretchen) Rehse of Racine; one granddaughter, Nikki (Clint) Daniels of Kenosha; great-grandchildren: Felicity, Jacub, Kiyah, Jack and Ethan; brothers, Jerry (Lois) Rehse of Horicon and Jim (Carol) Rehse of Mountain Home, AR; sister-in-law, Candy Rehse of Horicon; other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Peter Rehse.Memorial donations in Elmer’s name may be directed to New Beginnings Homeless Shelter.
Alice A. LaTendresse, of Horicon, wife, mother, teacher and friend, died unexpectedly on January 15, 2015 at the age of 71 years.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 21st, at Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Father Mike Petri celebrating the mass. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21st, from 9:30-10:45 a.m., also at the church. Burial will take place in St. Malachy Cemetery, Horicon. Alice was born in Sparta, WI on January 27, 1943, the daughter of Clyde and Mae (Miller) Arnold. She graduated from U.W. Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. On June 24, 1967 she married Norbert LaTendresse, a love that would last a lifetime.Alice is survived by: her husband Norbert (Shorty) of Horicon; their children- Thomas LaTendresse & Jason (Valarie) LaTendresse; her brothers- Joe (Glenda) Arnold & David (Holly) Arnold; her brother-in-law Eugene LaTendresse; her sister-in-law Sherry LaTendresse; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Alice is preceded in death by: her parents and her siblings Grace Preston, Verna Jones, and Elmer Sinner.Alice was a devoted mother and teacher. She enjoyed reading romance novels, music and traveling. She was very involved in both her local community and her church community. She helped with the election board and Senior Citizen programming in Horicon. She was a spiritual woman in involved with many church activities at Sacred Heart Parish, including choir, scripture study and creating gift baskets for the Fall Festival. She will be deeply missed by her friend, family, students and all who knew her.

Irvin retired from John Deere Co. of Horicon, WI.Irvin was a member of the St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon, WI. Irvin very much enjoyed spending time in the Tomahawk area, taking in all that nature has to offer.
