Alfred A. “Al” Bublitz, age 93 of Hartford, went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the Harvest Home in West Bend, surrounded by his family.
Visitation for Alfred will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church, 1001 Center St. in Hartford, on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 9 AM to 11 AM. The funeral service will follow the visitation at Peace Lutheran Church at 11 AM with the Reverends Jerome and Jeffrey Enderle officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford following the service.
Al was born on July 4, 1919 in the Town of Polk, Washington County the son of William and Edna (Schwanz) Bublitz. He graduated from Slinger High School in 1936. Alfred served in the US Navy during WWII from May 1944, to Feb 1946. He was united in marriage to Fern Derge on August 4, 1945 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in the Town of Herman, Dodge County. He worked as a toolmaker at the West Bend Company, Chrysler Outboard and the Bayliner Company in Hartford for over 40 years being the longest continually employed person when he retired. Al was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, and sang in the choir for over 30 years. He was on the building committee for the new church and school and was on the stewardship committee for many years. He also served on both the church council and the school board. He helped start the Pioneer Program at Peace Lutheran in which he was a leader for over 30 years, served as a district leader, and was on the National Council. He looked forward to his bowling league Friday nights at Dave”s Lanes in Hartford. He was also an instructor for the Moraine Park Technical College in Hartford. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and made many wood gifts for his children and grandchildren. During that time he also enjoyed volunteering for the Hartford Auto Museum for over 20 years.
His is survived by his wife of 67 years, Fern Bublitz of Hartford, his five children, Daniel Bublitz of Cedarburg, Janis (Rev. Jerome) Enderle of Dix Hill, NY, James Bublitz of Reeseville, Elaine Knack of West Bend, and Kenneth (Missy) Bublitz of Shorewood, IL; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one more soon to join the family; sisters, Ruth Bublitz of West Bend and Marion (Walter) Muller of Copperas Cove, TX, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Dorothy “Dotti” Justman, son-in-law, Roger Justman, grandson, Japheth Justman, two brothers, Edwin (Doris) Bublitz, Fred ( Mary) Bublitz, sister-in-law, Elvira (John) Schlitt, and brother-in-law, Delmar (Viola) Derge.
If desired, memorials may be made in Alfred A. Bublitz”s name to Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford.
