Alice R. Benninger, age 76, of Watertown, formerly of Reeseville, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.
Friends may call at the Murray Funeral Home in Reeseville on Saturday, December 22, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. David Groth will officiate. Burial will be at the Reeseville Cemetery.
The former Alice Rose Thomaschaske was born on June 14, 1931 in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin to the late Henry and Alice Rose (Van Heirden) Thomaschaske. On October 22, 1946, she was united in marriage with William Benninger at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reeseville. Together, William and Alice worked the family farm in rural Reeseville for many years and they also enjoyed traveling around the state together. After selling the farm in Reeseville, they moved to Watertown. Alice worked as a nursing assistant at Marquardt Manor in Watertown and at the county nursing home in Waukesha. She enjoyed reading and loved to cook, bake and spending time with her family.
Survivors include, her four children, Bonnie (Jerry) Kikkert of Watertown, Daniel Benninger of Watertown, Cherryl (Scott) Schleif of Clyman and Virginia Geneman of Watertown. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, three sisters, Violet (Earl) Schultz of Columbus, Lucy Haberman of Sun Prairie and Mary Allen of Waukesha, and her brother, Joe Thomaschaske of Waukesha. Other survivors include; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, on September 27, 2006, her sister, Mabel Weisensel, and four brothers, Mike Thomaschaske, Irven Thomaschaske, Clarence Thomaschaske and Willard Thomaschaske.
