Alvin E. Skalitzky, age 76, a life-long area resident, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at his home in the Town of Lowell, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Visitation for Al will be at Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will follow at church on Tuesday beginning at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Robert V. Moberg will officiate. Burial will be at Lowell Cemetery in the Village of Lowell.
Alvin Edward Skalitzky was born on February 18, 1932 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Franklin and Mabel (Poetter) Skalitzky. On June 12, 1954, he was united in marriage with Ruth Hauptli in Beaver Dam. Ruth preceded Al in death on October 9, 1999. For many years, Al worked for Home Dairy in Beaver Dam and then later at American Packaging in Columbus until he retired in the late 1990”s. He loved polka music and would go polka dancing almost every Friday and Sunday. Al was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus and also attended Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Lowell.
Survivors include two sons, John Skalitzky of Lowell and Jim (Joyce) Skalitzky of Beaver Dam, two grandsons, Chris Skalitzky of Juneau and Eric Skalitzky of Lowell, his sister, Arlene Kruger of Beaver Dam, two brothers, Eugene (Irene) Skalitzky of Columbus and Donald (Sandra) Skalitzky of Beaver Dam, his special cat, Boots, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Lester Skalitzky, a sister, Betty Hodgkins, his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Mildred Hauptli, and a brother-in-law, Martin Beyer.
