Pastor Paul Vander Galien left a message on May 10, 2008:
I got to know Alvin from my somewhat regular visits to the Checkered Flag cafe in Lowell on Thursday mornings. Alvin was much more regular than I. He was always very friendly and brightened up the morning with his friendly wit and humor. Recently he has been a regular worshiper at our church in Lowell I think simply because he also enjoyed it in addition to his church in Columbus. I missed him on Thursday morning at breakfast and at church that evening and was saddened to learn the reason why when our church organist noticed all the activity at the home on Thursday night and called to let me know. I will miss Alvin even though I have known him for only a short time. He seemed like a genuine, caring man who enjoyed other people''s company and was more than willing to help out whenever needed. I''m sure he is enjoying heaven through his faith in Jesus.
