Andrew Glassman

Andrew “Tom” Glassman, age 85, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital after a long illness.

Visitation for Tom will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 9:30 AM to 11:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Friday at 11:30 AM with Fr. Michael J. Erwin officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Tom was born on July 16, 1928, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Andrew and Eleanor Glassman. He proudly served in the United States Navy at the end World War II. On September 21, 1951, Tom was united in marriage with Mary Jane Heimerl at St. Patrick”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Tom and Mary started a successful roofing business that was to serve the community for the next forty years. He loved the roofing business and being able to provide for his family. Tom was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and attended St. Patrick”s throughout much of his life. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Pope John XXIII Council #1837.

Tom loved being with his family and enjoyed spending the winters in Key West, Florida with his wife. He enjoyed scuba diving and fishing and was an avid sports fan and was a strong supporter of the Milwaukee Brewers and of the Green Bay Packers. Tom was particularly fond of the family pet dogs who would walk with him and ride along in his truck. In his later years, Tom could be regularly seen at the gym where he enjoyed lifting weights and exercising.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Glassman of Beaver Dam; three children, Dianne (Bill) Fashun of Beaver Dam, Tom (Flori) Glassman of Naples, FL, and Judy (David) DeLonga of Suffolk, VA; five grandchildren, Scot (Angie) Fashun of Livingston, Elizabeth (David) Mahdasian of Milwaukee, Sarah (Tim) Kranz of Belleville, Jared Glassman, and Jazlyn Glassman, both of Naples, FL; seven great grandchildren, Tyler, Nishan, Alec, Nadya, Summer, Natalie, and Heidi; two sisters, Mary (Richard) Schears and Betty Garczynski, both of Beaver Dam; other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Ganske.

If desired, memorials may be made in Tom Glassman”s name to Dodge County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
