I'm so sorry for your loss. I have known arlene and her family for years ,and she was at the school I was in for grade school and middle school in horicon. May she finally be at peace and with her parents again. Peace to you all as well.
Arlene Julia Hartwig (nee Westphal), age 66, of Mayville passed away on Wednesday, April 11 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac with her husband by her side.A funeral service for Arlene will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Horicon with the Rev. Richard J. Boeck, Jr. officiating. A visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the church. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Horicon.Arlene was born the daughter of Vern and Margaret (Scholtes) Westphal on August 9, 1951 in Iron Ridge. She was united in marriage to Richard G. Hartwig on March 17, 1998 at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun. She had worked for the Horicon High School as an assistant librarian as well as a custodian at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Horicon. Arlene was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Horicon and also served on the altar guild. In her spare time she enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding along with her husband when he went golfing. She also loved taking long rides in the country to enjoy God’s creation.She is survived by her husband Richard of Mayville. Her brother Vern Westphal, Jr. of Beaver Dam. Her step aunt- Agnes (Phillip) Zimmerman. Her stepchildren- David Hartwig of West Bend, Linda Hartwig of Mayville, Richard L. Hartwig of Grand March, and William (Amy) Hartwig of Mayville. Her 5 grandchildren- Zach Hartwig, Andy Hartwig, Drew Hartwig, Caitlin Hartwig, and Lauren Hartwig. Her 2 great grandchildren- Brooke and Jonathan. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents.Memorials may be directed St. John’s Lutheran Church Horicon Building Fund.
