Arlene Laura Zimmel received her Heavenly home peacefully on the Saturday afternoon of March 18, 2017 having reached the age God had set for her of 90 years and 4 months at Hope Health and Rehabilitation in Lomira.A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church) at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas J. Zahner officiating. A visitation will take place on Thursday, March 23 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place at Immanuel Cemetery.Arlene Laura Zimmel was born on November 18, 1926 to Reinhold and Ella (Dobberpuhl) Christian in the township of Theresa, Wisconsin. She became a child of God through her baptism on November 28, 1926 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church) by the Rev. H.H. Laabs. Arlene continued her Christian life at home being taught the love of Jesus by her family and attended Immanuel Lutheran School. She confirmed her faith by the rite of Confirmation on May 26, 1940 by the Rev. H.H. Laabs at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Lester A. Zimmel at Immanuel Lutheran Church on May 26, 1951 by the Rev. William Lauterbach. To this union 4 children were born, Lawrence (1953), Leonard (1955), Lou Ann (1958), and Lloyd (1962). Arlene worked alongside her husband Lester while they farmed and then later worked at the Baker Canning in Theresa and Purity Cheese in Mayville. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church).She is survived by her children- Lawrence (Debra) Zimmel of Mayville, Leonard (Debi) Zimmel of Hartford, Lou Ann Zimmel of West Allis, and Lloyd (Wendy) Zimmel of Marathon. Her grandchildren- Andrea (Caleb) Palmer, Aaron (Heather) Zimmel, Ashley Zimmel, Ellen (Dan) Block, and Jenna Zimmel. Her great grandchildren- Owen and Harper Zimmel. Her brother- Harold (Irene) Christian of Sun Prairie. Sisters in law- Marilyn Christian and Evelyn Kamrath of Mayvillle. Brothers in law- Ruben (Elie) Neumann of Beaver Dam and Elmer Sellnow of Clyman. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester in 2011, siblings Irene (Walter) Koepsell, Clara (Ronald) Bowe, Norma (Reinhard) Grulke, Arnold Christian. Her in laws- Leon and Della Zimmel, Ervin Kamrath, Raymond (Mildred) Voss, Marvin (Arlene Neuman) Wetzel, Helen (David) Eggers, and Laverne Sellnow.Arlene’s family is filled with joy knowing Jesus was with her every step of the way.A very special thank you to the entire staff of Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center, Agnesian Hospice Hope, and Hope Senior Living for their loving care, patience, and support in her final years.
