Arletta Zahn, age 80, of Juneau, died on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
The visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There will also be a visitation at St. Peter”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Grove on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at the church on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Roger A. Grosnick officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
The former Arletta Ada Alberta Smith was born on May 2, 1929 in Horicon, Wisconsin to Walter and Ella (Wilke) Smith. She was a 1947 graduate of Horicon High School. On May 2, 1948, she was united in marriage with William F. Zahn in Horicon. Arletta farmed with her husband Bill and she enjoyed sharing the experience of planning wagon trains and participating in weddings and other events with their horses. In the past, Arletta volunteered at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau. She was a member of St. Peter”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Grove, where she was a past president of the Ladies Aide. Arletta was also a member of the Homemaker”s Club and Red Hatters.
Survivors are her children, Dennis (Pat) Zahn of Crivitz, Mary (Dale) Kreuziger, James (Michelle) Zahn, and Amy (Kevin) Voigt, all of Juneau, grandchildren, Penny (Michael) Scherer, Michael (Kelly) Zahn, David Zahn, Jill (Dan) Pocius, Jay Kreuziger, Jonas (Julie) Zahn, Sara (Brady) Brown, Rudy (Marsha) Zahn, Victoria Voigt, and Joshua and Nicholas Voigt. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Karl (Doris) Zahn of Whitewater, sister-in-law, Janice Smith of Horicon, special nieces, Sandra Panzer of Oakfield and Phyllis (Don) Keefer of Santa Barbara, CA, ten great grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill in 2002, a grandson, Jon Kreuziger, in 1984, and all of her brothers and sisters, Harvey, Edna Smits, Elmer, Raymond, Howard, Opal Michael, and Gordon.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Arletta Zahn”s name to St. Peter”s Ev. Lutheran Church, N5188 Cty. Rd. A, Juneau, WI, 53039 or to Lakeside Lutheran High School, 231 Woodland Beach Rd., Lake Mills, WI, 53551.
