Barbara A. Kiser, age 78, of Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Trinity Senior Community in Madison.
The visitation will be at St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 11:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church on Wednesday at 11:30 AM with Fr. Michael Erwin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick”s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
The former Barbara Ann Schmitt was born on September 30, 1934 in the Town of Westford, Dodge County, Wisconsin, to Christian and Frances (Hammer) Schmitt. She was a 1953 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. On August 28, 1954, Barbara was united in marriage with Clarence Kiser at St. Peter”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. She and Clarence owned a bus service for ten years and chartered kids to Hyland Prairie School. Barbara worked for the United States Postal Service and was the first female to become a rural letter carrier for the Beaver Dam Post Office. After 24 years of employment, she retired from the post office in 1994. Barbara was a secretary for ten years for the Dodge County Rural Letter Carrier Association and was a longtime member of the Beaver Dam Catholic churches. She enjoyed fishing, was an excellent seamstress and was always eager to learn new techniques as she attended the Nancy”s Notions sewing weekend each year.
Survivors are her husband, Clarence of Beaver Dam; children, Janet (Donald) Deutsch of Beaver Dam, Kay (Mark Morden) Kiser of Seattle, WA, Gary Kiser of Beaver Dam, and Lee (Kay) Kiser of Fox Lake; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Rita Kemnitz and Rosemary (Fred) Berger, both of Beaver Dam; brother, George (Kathy) Schmitt of Stillwater, MN; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris Schmitt and Darlene Schmitt, both of Beaver Dam, and Barbara and Jim Loeck of Horicon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, James, and Raymond Schmitt; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Evelyn Schmitt, Doris Abts, Viana Beske-Fay, Ellen Matthews, and John Kemnitz.
