Bernice J. Marschke, age 84, of Horicon, died on Friday, May 2, 2008, at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Friends may call at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, in Horicon, on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at the church on Tuesday with Rev. Daniel Seehafer. Private family burial will take place on Wednesday at Oakhill Cemetery.
Bernice Julia Marschke was born on May 16, 1923 to the late Rudolph and Hattie (Melchert) Schulz. She was the Salutatorian of the graduating class of 1941 at Horicon High School. On September 7, 1946, she was united in marriage with Robert W. Marschke at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church. Bernice worked for John Deere Horicon Works for 10 years. She then took some time off for the most important job of her life, being a mother for her two sons. After the kids were grown, she again entered the work force and did bookkeeping and accounting for Leigel Motors, which name changed to FDL Motors, until her retirement. In her pastime, Bernice enjoyed sewing blankets and doll clothes for her grandkids. She also loved to travel and had visited every state except for Hawaii. Bernice was a longtime member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church.
Bernice will be missed by her family, all of Horicon, Robert (Amy) Marschke and their children, Kristin, Aaron and Angela, and Richard (Lori) Marschke and their son, John, her brother, Roy (Dorothy) Schulz, other relatives and friends. She joins eternal life with her parents, her husband and her sister, Ruth Eberle.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Bernice”s name to the St. Stephen”s Ladies Aid.
