Bette Connors, age 87, formerly of Florence, died on Monday, March 3, 2014 at her home in Lowell, Wisconsin.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal services and she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Commonwealth Cemetery in Florence.
The former Bette Mae Gilbert was born on December 31, 1926 in Florence to Oscar and Elversa (Smith) Gilbert. On February 17, 1951, she was united in marriage with Roland “Onnie” Connors in Milwaukee. She lived in West Allis and worked for Allis Chalmers until it closed in the late seventies. Bette returned to Florence in retirement with her husband and later moved to Lowell to be closer to her sister. She enjoyed country drives and visiting with her many friends. Bette was an animal lover and had a heart of gold. She loved all of her family very much and was always willing to help out when she could.
Survivors are her brother, Edward Gilbert of Florence; sister Ellen Demanovich-Peterson of Lowell; nieces and nephews, Patricia Engel-Ewer, Debra Nehs, Michael (Debra) Demanovich and James (Debbie) Demanovich; many great nieces and great nephews; as well as great-great nieces and great-great nephews; other relatives and friends. Bette was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Leonard Gilbert.
