Bonnie J. Halverson, age 85, of Beaver Dam, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation for Bonnie will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring St. in Beaver Dam, on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 10:50 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM with Fr. Michael J. Erwin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter”s Cemetery.
The former Bonnie Jean Bell was born on February 21, 1928 in Gays Mills, Wisconsin to the late Lynn and Mae (Whitaker) Bell. She graduated from Gays Mills High School and the LaCrosse School of Beauty Culture. On April 2, 1951, she was united in marriage with Leo M. Halverson in Boscobel. After moving to Beaver Dam, Bonnie was a member of St. Peter”s Catholic Church where she was active in the Catholic Women; she also served on the Human Concerns Committee and served as a lay minister. She also was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and managed their store in downtown Beaver Dam from 1980 to 1995.
Survivors include her three sons, Troy (Cynthia) Halverson of Mequon, Todd Halverson of Beaver Dam, and Eric (Judy) Halverson of Watertown; two daughters, Jane (Carl) Freehauf of Machesney Park, IL and Lisa (David) Hoffman of LeRoy; her son-in-law, Keith Lutz of Green Bay; grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Theisen, Adam Lutz, Emily Freehauf, Becky Freehauf, Katie Hoffman, Robert Hoffman, Connie Halverson, Angie (Dustin) Allebach, Alex Halverson, Danneka Miller and Molly Halverson; two great grandchildren; three brothers, William Bell of Waukesha, Richard (Betty) Bell of Eastman, and Gary (Phyllis) Bell of Gays Mills; five sisters, Avalon Paulson of Gays Mills, Joyce Moore of Adams, Nancy Mikkelson of Ferryville, Shirley George of Janesville, and Linda (Rodney) Burkum of Gays Mills; sister-in-law, Charlotte Bell of Soldiers Grove; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Vicki Lutz on June 23, 2013; and four brothers, Stuart, Lynn Jr., Robert, and Darrell.
