Calvin T. Dollar, 89, of Beaver Dam passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Calvin Thomas was born the son of Albert and Lilly (Haase) Dollar on February 23, 1924 in Bells, TN. He was married to Inez M. May on October 30, 1943 in Amarillo, TX. Calvin was employed with the Monarch Range Company in Beaver Dam for 43 years. Upon his retirement, he then drove bus for the Beaver Dam School District for 20 years.
Calvin served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 until 1945, where he was based in England. He was a part of a nine person crew on the B17 Flying Fortress that flew 31 combat missions. Calvin was a member of both the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 and Clarence Keske VFW Post 1163 both of Beaver Dam. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam. Calvin was also an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan.
Calvin is survived by his two sons: Kevin (Joyce) Dollar of Beaver Dam and Richard (special friend, Debbie) Dollar of Beaver Dam; his siblings: Carl Dollar of Beaver Dam and Frieda Tipton of Tucson, AZ; his five grandchildren: Nick, Matt, Tricia, Amber and David; his great-grandchildren; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Inez in 1997, his siblings: Carrie Shreiner, Sylvia Bearder and Douglas Dollar, as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Koepsell Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Rd. in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Chris Davis officiating. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until 11a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Township of Trenton with graveside military honors conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 of Beaver Dam.
