Carl “Cackle” Lockwood, age 94, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Continental Manor in Randolph.
The visitation for Carl will be held at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin, with Celebrant John R. Leiting officiating.
Carl was born January 19, 1914 in Doylestown, Wisconsin, the son of the late Fred and Harriet (Pawson) Lockwood. He was married to Elda Kirchoff on May 23, 1959. Carl served his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He retired from John Deer. He enjoyed watching racing, especially NASCAR. He was an avid reader, especially world events and world history. Carl was an expert mechanic and enjoyed many years selling merchandise at flea markets along with his wife, Elda.
Survivors include his stepchildren, Beverly Gibbs, Winchester, TN, Joanne Miller, Friendship, Harold (Judy) Kirchoff, Horicon, his sister, Rosie Jarogoski, Beaver Dam, his brother, Eugene “Dutch” Lockwood, Beaver Dam, eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1985, two brothers, Fred and Edward Lockwood, two sisters, Shirley Wolfgang and Norma Anderson, a son-in-law, Pat Gibbs, and two granddaughters, Debbie Shipp and Shelly Holt.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Whang, Dr. Zhang, and his nurse, Marilyn, Dr. Militello, Dr. Passow, Dr. Uttrie and the many other physicians and nurses for the wonderful care he received. We would like to also thank the staff at Hillside Hospice Care for their compassion and health care for Mr. Lockwood. A special thank you to Jean and Cindy Birkholz for their care, concern and assistance to Mr. Lockwood and family.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Carl Lockwood”s name to Hillside Hospice, 707 S. University Avenue, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin 53916.
