Carol G. Sprehe, 88, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at her niece”s home in Beaver Dam.
Carol was born on August 13, 1925 the daughter of William C. and Caroline G. (Schlude) Fiebelkorn in Beaver Dam. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School and attended nursing school at Mercy School of Nursing in Janesville, WI. She had worked in Milwaukee and Beloit and later was employed in Rockford, IL at the Swedish American and Rockford Memorial Hospitals in their pediatric departments. On May 23, 1959, she was married to Wilbert F. Sprehe and they resided in Rockford for 51 years.
Even though they had no children of their own, their greatest joy was spending time with their nieces and nephews, their children and their families and the neighborhood children. Carol always had time for kids and there was never a shortage of candy at her house to share with them.
She belonged to several bridge clubs and a homemakers club in Rockford. After she retired from nursing, she volunteered at St. Anne”s Nursing Home in Rockford and at their gift shop. Carol and her late husband loved spending time in their trailer in Northern Wisconsin with family and friends. Carol enjoyed playing cards, going on walks and spending time with friends.
After her husband died she went to live at her niece”s homes. Carol had a zest for life which she brought to everyone who met her. She was a JOY to be around and will be greatly missed.
Carol is survived by her nieces Pamela (Bob Scheer) Warber of Appleton, Kate (Robert) White of Beaver Dam, Beth (Curt Heinzelman) Dorn of Sun Prairie, Roberta (Mark) Schob of Fond du Lac; nephew Charles (Bobbette) Fiebelkorn of Beaver Dam; great nieces and great nephews and their families: Julie, Paul and Zachary Schramm, Jason White, Steven Warber, Amy Vander Wielen, Therese, Chad, Gabriel, Ava and Addison Henriksen, Tammy and Aalyah White, Joseph Dorn, Jillian and Brett Grady, Jonathan Dorn and Megan and Beckett Hatfield; a very close and special cousin Mary Jo and Todd Wise; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbert Jeep and a brother Robert Fiebelkorn.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, 131 E. Maple Avenue, Beaver Dam with Deacon Edward Cody officiating. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday, April 8th from 11:00 – 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Maple Avenue. Interment will take place at a later date at Willwood Burial Park in Rockford, IL.
