Caroline S. Behnke

Caroline S. Behnke, age 96, of Horicon, formerly of Mayville passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Marvin’s Manor in Horicon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 9 at 12 o’clock (noon) at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville, with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9 from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 12 p.m. (noon) at the church. Interment will take place at the St. Mary Cemetery, Mayville, WI.Caroline was born on November 8, 1918 to Julius and Augusta (Krause) Lifke in Gillett, WI. She was united in marriage to Donald G. Behnke on February 3, 1940 in Mayville. Caroline was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She spent her life taking care of the one’s she loved, her family. In her spare time Caroline enjoyed gardening, embroidery, and baking.Caroline is survived by her children- Don (Judith) Behnke of Neshkoro, Sharon (William) Mueller of Nekoosa, WI., and Robert (Barbara) Behnke of Mayville. Her 8 grandchildren, 15 great grand children, and 2 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by; her parents, her husband Donald in 2005, and her siblings- Fred Krause, Emelie Lifke, Emil Lifke, Elenore Lifke, Elizabeth Lifke, Emma Lifke, Lulva Lifke, Joseph Lifke, Arnold Lifke, and Adolph Lifke.Memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville.Special thanks to the staff and extended family at Marvin’s Manor in Horicon for all of their wonderful care and support shown to Caroline over the past 10 years.
