Cheeril H. Schilhabel, age 77, formerly of Horicon, died on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Oregon Manor Nursing Home in Oregon, WI.
The visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 9:00 AM until 10:50 AM. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jonathan C. Szczesny officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon on Saturday at 1:30 PM.
The former Cheeril Hope Heublein was born on March 14, 1936 to Erwin and Lillian (Stueber) Heublein in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. In her youth she was active in the Beaver Dam community and was a candidate for Alice in Dairyland in the early 1950”s. Cheeril was a 1958 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Speech Therapy. On June 4, 1966, Cheeril was united in marriage with Orville Schilhabel at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. She was a professional speech therapist, working for C.E.S.A. 13, in Dodge and Washington Counties. Cheeril specialized in working with children with cleft palates and she also helped students who were learning English as a second language in the area. She formed lifelong relationships with many of her students, who enjoyed her creative teaching style and use of puppets.
Survivors are her husband, Orville Schilhabel of Horicon; children, Darlene (Rod) Grunske of Omro, Terry (Pam) Schilhabel of Perrysburg, OH, and Tom (Barbara) Schilhabel of Belleville; grandchildren, Cindy, Cheryl, Julie, Cory and Chris, Stephanie, Stacy, and Jessica, Nathaniel and Claire; 12 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Devoine Worden of Mesa, AZ; brother-in-law, Floyd Zwieg of West Allis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, John; and sister, Valorie Zwieg.
