Clara Mae Voigt, age 77, of Beaver Dam, died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Visitation for Clara will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Monday, September 7, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where a rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM. On Tuesday, September 8, 2009, visitation will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Tuesday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Fr. John Radetski will officiate. Burial will be at St. Michael”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
The former Clara Mae Schmidt was born on July 17, 1932 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Walter and Clara V. (Rake) Schmidt. On June 7, 1952, she was united in marriage with Oliver Voigt at St. Michael”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Clara retired from JC Penny”s in Beaver Dam after working there for over 30 years. Clara was an active woman. In years past, she enjoyed waterskiing and taught many kids how to ski at the Beaver Dam Boat Club. She loved to travel and has been to Poland, Germany, other parts of Europe, Canada, Mexico, and all parts of the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. Clara loved to take photos and has many albums that detail the travels she and Ollie took through the years. She also enjoyed dancing, polka music, collecting dolls and was an avid participant of water aerobics. Clara was a life-long member of St. Michael”s Catholic Church, currently St. Katharine Drexel Church, where she was co-president of the Catholic Women, member of the New Life Choir, the Human Concerns Committee, past president of St. Michael Rosary Society and was the chairperson of the St. Michael Harvest Festival for over 20 years. She was also involved in Dodge County Right to Life, Clothes for Kids, Meals-on-Wheels, and was an election poll worker.
Survivors include her husband, Oliver Voigt of Beaver Dam, her five children, Steve (Kathy) Voigt, Gary (Sue) Voigt, Janice Falbe, Darryl (Sue) Voigt, and Annette (Patrick) Budde, her grandchildren, Mark (Doreen), Jon, Amanda, Ashley, Brooke, Carlyn, Aaron, Andrea, Meg, Leah, Cal and Sam, her great grandchildren, Travis, Allison, and Amy, other relatives and friends.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Leona Banes and her husband Graegar, her brother, Lawrence Schmidt and his wife Adeline, her sister-in-law, Irene Voigt, and her son-in-law, Jeff Falbe.
Memorials may be made in Clara Voigt”s name to the St. Katharine Drexel Band Guild, to the St. Katharine Drexel School Endowment Fund, both at 503 S. Spring Street, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin 53916, or to your charity of choice.
