Darlene D. Buss, 75, of Juneau passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 surrounded by her family at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Darlene was born the daughter of Henry and Lorena (Luebke) Pirkel on May 4, 1938 in Columbus, WI. She attended school at Woodland Road School in Hustisford and later in Mayville. She was married to Raymond Buss on September 4, 1954 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. Darlene together with her husband Ray farmed on the Buss family homestead for the rest of her life. Also, while Ray worked evenings at Mayville Metal, she was the main farmer for 21 years besides being a dedicated homemaker.
Darlene was a member of St. John”s Lutheran Church in Juneau. She was known for her muffins at the farmer”s market. Darlene loved to can fresh fruits and vegetables. A talent she passed down to her children. Darlene will be remembered as a perfectionist in her embroidery. She was a very special wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Ray of Juneau; her seven children: Nancy Deck of Beaver Dam, Diane (Bill) Harden of Muscatine, IA, Steven (special friend Mary Beckers) Buss of Neenah, Richard (Julie) Buss of Jackson, Terry Buss of Juneau, Michael (Jan) Buss of Beaver Dam and Danny (special friend Amanda Wolf) Buss of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Lichtenberg of Hustisford; her special friend, Ann Peters of Viroqua, WI; and further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant brothers: Daniel, Duane, and Dalton, and her son-in-law, Daniel Deck on July 4, 2012.
A funeral service will be held at Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John”s Lutheran Church in Juneau with the Rev. Paul Hirsch officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16th from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the church, and also on Monday, February 17th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at church. Interment will be held at Juneau City Cemetery in Juneau.
