Dawn I. Standke, 57, of Beaver Dam passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at her home.
Funeral service for Dawn will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with the Rev. Mark Jensen officiating. A visitation will also be held on Monday, Feb. 10th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Private family interment will be held on Tuesday at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton, Wisconsin.
Dawn Irene was born on May 9, 1956 the daughter of Roy and Joyce (Wrzesinke) Gentz in Hartford, Wisconsin. She was a 1974 graduate of Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills. While in high school, Dawn enjoyed horseback riding and barrel racing. She was also named Dairy Princess in 1972. On June 8, 1974, she was united in marriage to Stuart J. Miller and they were blessed with four children. She was later married to Jeffrey P. Standke on November 12, 2002 in Lake Tahoe.
Dawn received a Surgical Technician Certificate in 1983 from MPTC. She had been employed with the Beaver Dam Community Hospital for over 21 years as a surgical technician. She had been a volunteer for the Waupun Truck n’ Show since the death of her husband Jeff. She loved to croquet and she loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Dawn was also a very proud and loving grandmother.
Dawn is survived by her four children: William (Amber) Miller of Mayville, Jaime (fiancé Christopher Benter) Miller of Beaver Dam, Nathan J. (Kate) Miller of Poway, CA and Andrew M. Miller of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren; her parents: Roy and Joyce Gentz of Beaver Dam; brothers and sisters: Mark (Marilyn) Gentz of Anaheim, CA, Debra (Fred) McDonald of Sun Prairie, Tony (Karla) Gentz of Sandpoint, Idaho and Brenda (Gary) Gubbels of Beaver Dam; her former husband Stuart J. Miller of Beaver Dam. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey 2005.
