Dennis R. Ahrens, age 53, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at his Home in rural Horicon.
Friends and family may call at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will follow at church on Saturday, beginning at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Jonathan D. Szczesny will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
Dennis Robert Ahrens was born on May 3, 1954 in Zumbrota, Minnesota to Robert J. and Beverly A. (Lamb) Ahrens. After moving to Wisconsin, Dennis graduated from Horicon High School in 1972. On April 20, 1974, he was united in marriage with Maralee Wille in Juneau. Dennis worked at Hanefeld Brothers near Burnett for over 25 years. For the past ten years, he has worked for the Dodge County Highway Department. When the weather was nice, Dennis was outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening or just sitting outside and visiting with family and friends or playing with his grandson and his dog. He was also a classic car enthusiast and liked motorcycles and woodworking. Dennis was a big Green Bay Packer fan and he was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon.
Survivors include his wife, Maralee Ahrens of Horicon, three daughters, Amy (John) Shultis of Pardeeville, Carrie Ahrens of Waupun and Jena Ahrens (Anthony Biermann) of Janesville, a grandson, Brady Shultis, his mother, Beverly Lange of Juneau (special friend Robert Frei), his father, Robert (JoAnn) Ahrens of Fond du Lac, his sister, Debbie (Thomas “Toby”) Anfinson of Horicon, two nephews, Thomas (Robin) Anfinson of Oshkosh and Nathan (Jennifer) Anfinson of Horicon, other relatives and many special friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents.
