BE VIGILANT, FOR YOU KNOW NOT THE TIME OF MY RETURN.
On April 3, 2014, Almighty God and Heavenly Father did return to take Dona Mary Shute to her heavenly home. Dona, age 82, of Beaver Dam died peacefully at her home with family by her side.
Dona was born the daughter of Elmer and Martha Tobin on January 24, 1932 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Throughout her life Dona has feathered many nests that were home. After being born, raised, and starting a family in Beaver Dam other nests were feathered to create homes in Horicon, WI and Eagle River, WI. In 2004 Dona and husband Harry came back to Beaver Dam where it all started. Dona was united in marriage to “the one” Harry William Shute of Beaver Dam, on May 9, 1953 at St. Patrick”s Catholic Church of Beaver Dam. Dona was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School, Class of 1950, and kept in contact with some of her classmates since graduation. Some of these friends would meet for lunch to share stories about the “good old days”. Throughout her life Dona enjoyed different types of hobbies and crafting. She loved traveling and camping which provided unlimited memories and would trigger hours of discussion at family events. She always carried an entrepreneurial spirit that played itself out with a couple small businesses attempts. But mostly, this spirit showed through in her love for “rummaging”. She loved having her own rummage sales and thoroughly enjoyed going to sales and hunting for those hidden treasures.
Dona is survived by a family that she loved very deeply starting with her husband of 61 years, Harry William Shute. Her four children: Kim Gassner (Greg) of Lomira, Mark Shute of Aptos CA, Roxanne of Beaver Dam, and Alan Shute (Ellen) of Oshkosh. Dona is survived by grandchildren Emily Maguire (Tom) of Hastings on Hudson NY, Brandon Anfinson of Horicon, Stacy Hanlon (Brad) of Laguna Hills CA, Brett Anfinson (Jamie) of Marshall, Sarah Shute of Flagstaff, AZ, Kelly of Scottsdale AZ, Sean of Beaver Dam, Nick (Amanda) Gassner Fond du Lac, and Adam (Kayla) Gassner Brewton AL. Last but certainly not least Dona took great pride in her role as great-grandma to four great-granddaughters Braelyn Ella, Kamryn Elisabeth, Anneliese Marie and Novily Kendrick. Dona is survived by in-laws Elaine Tobin of Beaver Dam, William Shute (Lou) of Winter Park FL, Nathalie Shute of Beaver Dam, along with many nieces and nephews that held a special place in her life. Dona was blessed with many friends and acquaintances that provided much happiness in her life which include Bev Savage, Violet Mann, Hermine Kohl, Bill Ford, Phyllis Nigh, Charlie Singer, and Tim Anfinson.
Dona was preceded in death by her Father Elmer Tobin, Mother Martha Tobin (Jackowick), Brother Richard Tobin and Brother LaVern Tobin.
The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to ALL who have touched Dona”s life through every aspect of medical care and recovery. Thank you to Agnesian Hospice for their quick response and tender care in Dona”s final days. Likewise, many thanks for the vigilance of the night nursing staff of ComForcare Senior Services.
Memorials may be made in the name of Dona Shute for a benefactor yet to be determined.
