Donald E. Weatherwax, age 70, died on Sunday, January 4, 2008 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
The visitation for Donald will be held on Friday, January 9, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and on Saturday, January 10, 2008 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. John”s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. The funeral service will follow on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. Bob Castro officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Donald Ervin Weatherwax was born on June 15, 1938 in Cadillac, Michigan to Ervin and Margaret (Molner) Weatherwax. In 1956, he entered into the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1960. Donald was united in marriage with June Helwig on June 27, 1959 at Zion Church in Columbus, Wisconsin. He worked at the Hughes Company, and also owned and operated Elba Foods Store for a short time. Donald enjoyed camping, fishing, and small wood working projects and was a great fan of TV westerns. Donald received a certificate of achievement fro the Beaver Dam Police Department Citizen Police Academy. He was certified in fire safety training and was highly regarded as a Beaver Dam school crossing guard which he looked forward to doing each year. He enjoyed his family greatly, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donald was a member of St. John”s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
Mr. Weatherwax is survived by his wife, June of Beaver Dam, sons, Dale (Francine) of Cambria, Richard (Lynn) of Rio, and James (Jana) of Columbus, daughter, Janet (Arden) Kruger of Beaver Dam, brothers, Ronald (Regina) of Sturgeon Bay, and Gerald (Sandra) of Vernon, MI, sisters, Bonnie Sisson and Sandra Moore both of Cadillac, MI, mother-in-law, Doretta Helwig of Columbus, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Gerald Weatherwax, Jr., his father-in-law, William Helwig, and a brother-in-law, Harold Helwig.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Donald”s name to St. John”s Christ Care, 1209 Circle Dr., Beaver Dam, WI, 53916, or a charity of one”s choice.
