A precious heart stopped beating when Dorothy E. Bierman, age 90, of Horicon passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 10:30 PM. A searching soul ascended to heaven to join her beloved husband, Al Bierman, who passed before her on May 23, 2008. We mark and mourn the ending of her earthly life well lived.
Visitation for Dorothy will be at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 N. Palmatory in Horicon, on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at church on Thursday beginning at 1:00 PM. Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
Mom was born April 15, 1922 in Schivelbein, Germany, the daughter of William and Alma Toepke; the family came to the United States in 1923. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church where she attended parochial school, was confirmed on April 5, 1936, and graduated from eighth grade on June 11, 1936; she graduated from Horicon High School, the class of 1940. She was a member of the church choir for many years and the Ladies Aide. On August 16, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage with Alvin Bierman at St. Stephen Lutheran Church Parsonage. Mom worked as a cook at St. Stephen Lutheran School making believers out of many of the children who did not want to try something new to eat. Mom enjoyed sitting on her back porch watching the birds and the squirrels eat. Her noon meal on most days was at the senior meal site to where she would walk. She loved to walk and would walk downtown to go to exercise class two or three times a week. She enjoyed listening to the radio and gardening.
Mom is survived by three children, Jane (Thomas) Wepner of North Fond du Lac, Charles Bierman of Horicon, and John (Margie) Bierman of Montgomery, AL; three grandchildren, Amy (Wayne) Jagodzinski of Grafton, Brian (Laura) Pederson of Greenville, and Eric Bierman of Montgomery, AL; four great grandchildren, Zachary Pederson of Greenville, Ashley (Andrew) Nass of Appleton, Nathan Styles of Grafton, and Gracie Jagodzinski of Grafton; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, a brother, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, a plant or tree may be planted or memorials may be made to St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 N. Palmatory in Horicon 53032, in her name.
