Dorothy M. Holtz, age 87, formerly of Horicon and Hartford, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at Cedar Lake Health & Rehabilitation Center in West Bend.
Visitation for Dorothy will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Fr. Mike Petrie will officiate. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
The former Dorothy Marie Gass was born on March 30, 1921 in Allenton, Wisconsin to the late Joseph and Anna (Ziegelbauer) Gass. She attended St. Kilian Grade School and was a 1939 graduate of Hartford High School. On August 27, 1947, she was united in marriage with Richard Holtz at St. Kilian”s Parsonage in Hartford. She enjoyed bowling and gardening; enjoying her roses and begonias most of all. Dorothy was also a loyal Badger football fan. She was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Parish (formerly St. Malachy) in Horicon where she was a past member of the Altar Society. Dorothy was also a member of the Horicon VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her sister, Marian Loosen of Hartford, nieces and nephews, Rita (Dennis) Pruski of Hartford, Mary (Jeff) Disterhaft of Princeton, Michael (Cindy) Loosen of Hartford, Jean (Duane) Dvorak of Hartford, John (Tracy) Loosen of Hartford, Carol (Jeff) Strupp of Hartford, and Marcia (Jeff) Iselin of Hartford, many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a nephew, Robert Loosen, and a brother-in-law, Anthony Loosen.
The family would like to thank Wellington Place in Hartford and Cedar Lake Health and Rehab Center in West Bend for their exceptional and compassionate care.
