Dear Lisa and Family, it comes as a shock to hear of Doug''s death. I stopped in Horicon in the Spring of ''09 just before I went to Iraq. I stopped by the PD to visit Doug, only to find he had retired! How could that be possible? It seems only like yesterday that he was just starting on the PD. The years pass so quickly! I walk with you in your sorrow. Doug was a good man and a brother in blue (I was a police officer in the Air Force for 30 years... now I''m a Chaplain in the Army). As you struggle with his dying, take time to remember all of the good things he brought to your life and the lives of the people around you, and remember that not even death is able to separate us from the love of God.

To the family of Doug, I will always remember Doug as a very helpful and caring person, he always excelled in whatever he did. Memories of him from High School came flooding back at his loss, so my condolences to his family. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He will be greatly missed
"Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality." ~Emily Dickinson I had the pleasure working with Doug. His spirit was admired by many. My prayers go out to Lisa and the family -- God will give you strength. Doug''s spirit will always remain within those who knew and loved him.
So sorry to hear of Doug''s passing. I enjoyed working with Doug at events and talking sports. Doug and I had coaching basketball in common and in many of the same venues. He loved to talk about the achievements of his teams and the coaches we each knew. I missed him after he left Per Mar last spring. Lisa I am glad I got to know the both of you and please accept my condolence on your lose! Nancy Gelhar
I grew up with Doug on South Hubbard Street. As kids we played and of course seemed like we always got into some kind of trouble. We had a great friendship and there are many good memories. I was very proud of Doug when he became chief of police in Horicon. I know he did a fantastic job. In 1995 I spent three months in Horicon. While I was there I invited Doug to my sister Sandi''s house and made him Italian chile that he really enjoyed. My prayers go out to Dougs family.
