Duane W. Means, age 74, of Tripoli and formerly of Reeseville, died on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff.
The visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Reeseville on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Donald Steinberg officiating. Burial will be at Reeseville Cemetery.
Duane Waldo Means was born on December 22, 1937 in Madison, Wisconsin to Waldo and Iva (Freudenberg) Means. On October 9, 1954 he was united in marriage with Lois Mae Strahota at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Reeseville. Duane lived in the Reeseville area and later made his home in the Tripoli area. He helped start the Willow Region Trap Club and was active for the Town of Lynne serving as the Town Constable for many years and Town Chairman. Duane was an avid card player and hunter. He was a semi driver for many years, hauling everything from cranberries to logs.
Duane is survived by his wife, Lois of Tripoli; children, Rachel Means of Milton, Cynthia (Pete) Dampier of Pittsville, Randal Means of Necedah, and Victoria Means of Tripoli; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Ruby) Means of Broken Arrow, OK; sister, Esther Machovich of Oxford, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great granddaughter, Megan Rice; and a brother-in-law, Allen Machovich.
