Edgar F. Kanzenbach, age 98, of Horicon, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Visitation for Edgar will be at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will follow at church on Saturday beginning at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
Edgar F. Kanzenbach was born on February 6, 1913 on the family farm outside of Horicon to the late Carl and Mathilda (Steffen). He attended St. Stephen Parochial School and graduated from Horicon High School. On June 2, 1940, he was united in marriage with Genevieve Curphey at St. Mark”s Episcopal Church in Beaver Dam. Together they owned and operated a prosperous dairy farm in the Town of Hubbard for 36 years. In his younger days, he worked at Harnischfeger in Milwaukee, as a carpenter at Starkweather, and as a milk man at the City Dairy in Horicon. He really enjoyed hunting, both here in Wisconsin and in Colorado. Edgar was very involved in the community; he served as a member of the Horicon School Board in the 1950”s and 60”s and was a member of the Horicon Gun Club for over 50 years, where he loved to shoot trap. He was a life-long member of St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon where he held many church offices and was currently the oldest member. Edgar volunteered at Bethesda for many years and repaired countless items for resale.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Genevieve Kanzenbach; his two children Grace (Curtis) Lehman of Beaver Dam and Kenneth (Diane) Kanzenbach of Horicon; five grandchildren, Daniel (Karen) Lehman, Gwendolyn Grace (Robert) Lynn, Keith (Cindy) Kanzenbach, John (Anne) Kanzenbach, and Faith Biermann; great grandchildren, Jessica (Alex) Contreras, Justin Lehman, RC Alexander Lehman, Sidney Lehman, Cody Genova, Michael Lynn, Hailey Grace Lynn, Kollin Kanzenbach, Brianna Biermann, and Jake Biermann; his great great granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Contreras, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Randall Scott Lehman; two brothers, Lester, as a child, and Harold; two sisters, Ina, as an infant, and Hilda Bennett; and his brother-in-law, Clarence Bennett.
