Edward F. Marolla, age 77, of Horicon, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
A memorial gathering will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 5:50 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Monday beginning at 6:00 PM with Fr. Mike Petrie officiating.
Edward was born on July 16, 1935 in Pence, Wisconsin to the late Edward F. and Matea (Cortichiato) Marolla. He graduated from Tri County High School in Plainfield and then worked at several newspapers before serving in the US Army, with Elvis Presley. After his service, he returned home and together with his father and brother they published the Horicon Reporter for 30 years. On January 20, 1962, Ed was united in marriage with Bette Kaminky at Holy Cross Church in Milwaukee. He has been a long-time member of St. Malachy, now Sacred Heart Parish, in Horicon. Ed loved and greatly enjoyed all his grandchildren; he also enjoyed the trips to the casino to play Blackjack.
Survivors include his wife, Bette Marolla; his son, Rev. Vincent (Rev. Pamela) Marolla of Galesburg, IL; three daughters, Therese (Donald) Wood of Rock Fall, IL, Diane (Paul) Harrison of Watertown, and Julie (Casey) Schneider Appleton; nine grandchildren, Christina (Josh) McCann of St. Paul, MN, David Marolla of Galesburg, IL, Katherine Harrison of Sun Prairie, John Harrison and Mary Harrison of Watertown, Joseph Wood (Vanessa Delgado) and Jeremiah Wood of Rock Falls, IL, James Wood of Djibouti, Africa, and Madalyn Schneider of Appleton; three great grandchildren, Mattea Wood, and Atreyu and Aza Cruz; his brother and sister, Julius (Barbara) Marolla and Mary (David) Marsch of Horicon; his brother-in-law, John (Marge) Kaminky of St. Charles, IL; two sisters-in-law, Mary Sue (Walter) Barniskis of Minneapolis, MN and Julie Bower of Martinsburg, WV; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
If desired, memorials may be made in Ed”s name to Sacred Heart Food Pantry or Sacred Heart Debt Fund.
