Edward H. Hilbert, 95 years old, of Mayville, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Hope Health & Rehabilitation Center, Lomira.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 5th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville, with the Rev. Father Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 5th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., also at St. Mary Church. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Mayville.Edward was born on June 1, 1920 to Nicholas & Helen (Rudinger) Hilbert in Ashford, WI. He was a 1939 graduate of Mayville High School. Edward was united in marriage to Veronica A. Klink on June 28, 1941 in Woodland, WI. He retired from Maysteel Corporation after 40 years of employment. Edward was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Mayville Golf Club. He was a longtime member & president of the Mayville Water Commission. He was a member of the IAM Local 2053. He was an avid hunter & fisherman, and enjoyed boat racing on the Rock River.Edward is survived by: his children – Dr. Edward E. (Robin) Hilbert of Wickenburg, AZ, Mary Ann Shaw of Oxnard, CA, Daniel (Susan) Hilbert of Beaver Dam, Jayne (Phillip) Gohr of Mayville, and Michael (Darlene) Hilbert of Mayville; his sister Helen Reabe of Waupun; his brother Alphonse Hilbert of Sturgeon Bay; his grandchildren- Dr. Sonya (Dr. Greg) Hess, Dr. Tanya Underwood, Melissa (Simon) Alveraz, Lauren Celcer, Jeffery (Kerry) Vollmer, Randall (Lisa) Vollmer, Jessica (Seth) McDonald, Barry (Ellen) Hilbert, Kendra (Brian) Wetzel, Vonn (Naiza) Gohr, & Stacey Hilbert; 18 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Edward is preceded in death by: his parents, his wife- Veronica in 2006, his sisters- Margaret Hilbert & Laura Wagner; and his 4 brothers- Francis, James, William, & Nicholas.Memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville.Edward will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. The family would like to give a special thanks to his granddaughter Stacey who lovingly cared for Ed in his home.
