Edward P. Stegner, age 85, died on Monday, October 17, 2011 at his home in the Town of Oak Grove on the farm which has been in the family for 101 years.
The visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. There will also be a visitation at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 127 W. Maple Ave. on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Thursday at 11:30 AM with Fr. Michael J. Erwin officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Edward Peter Stegner was born on April 14, 1926 in the Town of Oak Grove t o Edward H. and Katherine (Sturm) Stegner. On February 13, 1950 he was united in marriage with Dorothy J. Hartl at St. Patrick”s Church in Beaver Dam. Ed was a dairy farmer and raised beef cattle most of his years. After his retirement, he did janitorial work at Beaver Dam High School, Old Hickory Country Club and The Roost. He held a private pilot”s license in the 1950”s and enjoyed his time in the sky. He also enjoyed fishing, sawing wood and salvaging. At the end of his day, Ed liked to relax in front of the T.V. watching a western.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy of the Town of Oak Grove; children, Diane (Fred) Roadt of Eau Claire, Sharon (Terry) Dalton of Akron, OH, and Peter (Tammi) Stegner of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Michael Dalton of Akron, OH, Teresa (Eric) Dubuvecky of Mentor On The Lake, OH, Jessica and Jason Stegner of Beaver Dam, Jennie Roadt of Chinle, AZ, and Paul (Janis) Roadt of Eau Claire; great grandchildren, Natalie and Keira Roadt of Eau Claire; brother, Harvey (Jean) Stegner of Hartsville, SC, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold, sisters, Florence Schutte, Margaret Kelly, and Mildred Pesante, and step brothers, Leonard and Alvin Stegner.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Edward P. Stegner”s name to St. Katharine Drexel Parish or Hillside Hospice / Homecare.
