Edwin J. Qualmann was a simple man who loved to grow and harvest things such as crops, wildlife, family, relationships in the community, church, and business. The testimony of this was that as he was driving his old pickup he pulled to the side, put it in park, and went to be with his Savior Jesus on January 11, 2019.Ed was born to Emma Pruetz Qualmann and Edwin Qualmann in the family farmhouse on Wildcat Road, Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, on January 15, 1933. This started his lifetime love of farming and was the very farm on which he worked for many years with his son, Dan, and grandson, Lucas.Ed attended Woodland Road School and Bethany Lutheran School in Hustisford and graduated from Mayville High School in 1950. He married Diane Wild in 1957 at St. Matthew’s in Iron Ridge. Ed is survived by his wife of 61 years, 10 months, and 6 days. One of his favorite pastimes was keeping track of the exact days that he and Diane were married.Ed and Diane were blessed with three children— Jean, Dan, and John. Raising his three children on his family farm was a great joy to him. He always encouraged them to be independent, hardworking, and to remember their Christian faith.Ed was gifted in leadership and used that gift to serve on many dairy and ag-related boards, including the Milwaukee Milk Producers, National Milk Producers, Dairy Council of Wisconsin, and ASCS Committee. He was elected to the Dodge County Board of Supervisors, on which he served for 30 years. He was an honorary member of the Iron Ridge Fire Department and served on church councils at St. Matthew’s in Iron Ridge and Bethany in Hustisford.
