Elaine Ruth Sharpee, 76, of N1029 Old F Road, Rio, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Sun Prairie Health Care Center in Sun Prairie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Robert Wilke officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24th from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Zeidler Funeral Home in Columbus, and also on Thursday, February 25th from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Spring Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in Keyeser, WI.
Elaine was born the daughter of Arthur and Elsa (Hermanson) Hamre on March 17, 1933 in the township of Hampden, WI. She was married to Arthur Sharpee on March 7, 1953. Elaine was baptized, confirmed, and married at Spring Prairie Lutheran Church in Keyeser, WI. She was a 1951 graduate of DeForest High School, and a 1953 graduate of Columbia County Norman School. Elaine taught at both McKinley School and Crossing School. Later in life, she was employed seasonally at the Wisconsin Cheeseman, and with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
Elaine was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus, where she served as a member of the Ladies Aid. She also served as a volunteer at the Zion Lutheran School and Columbus Community Hospital. Elaine’s hobbies also included gardening, cooking, reading, rosemaling and most of all spending time with her family.
Elaine is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of 57 years, Arthur; her children: Paul (Donna) Sharpee of Rio, Gregg (Denise) Sharpee of Lodi, Diana Krug of Sun Prairie, Judy (Patrick) Fritz of Marshall, Valerie (Thaddeus) Monthie of Columbus, Eric (Ruth Yelk) Sharpee of Sun Prairie and Kristen (Paul) Wolf of New Lisbon; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sisters: Mildred (Vern) Herring of DeForest, Janice (Henry) Berg of Rio, Vivian Greiber of DeForest, Audrey (Doug) Herwig of DeForest and Jean (Craig) Buske of Madison; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Philip.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Sun Prairie Health Care Center and also to Dr. Arbaje and Dr. Flynn and Dr. Elizabeth Trinity.
