Eleanor Thomascheske, age 86, formerly of the Reeseville and Columbus areas, died on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Murray Funeral Home in Reeseville from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Lowell United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Worgan officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.
Eleanor was born on September 17, 1925 in Kickapoo, Wisconsin to the late Clifford and Vercelia (Nelson) Callaway. After graduating from Richland Center High School, she was united in marriage with Irven Thomascheske on October 25, 1947 in Iowa. Eleanor was a longtime member of the Lowell United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women and where she served as the treasurer of the Homemakers for many years. Eleanor helped with the Nutrition Program at both the Reeseville and Lowell meals sites. She loved to dance, play Euchre, play Bingo, and go for rides with her family. Her family remembers her as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include, her son, Clarence (Rosemary) Thomascheske of Watertown; five daughters, Betty Stratton of Rockford, IL, Yvonne (Jim) Durney of Columbus, Nancy (Gary) Jaecks of Wausau, Linda (Gary) Schilling of Campbellsport and Sandy (Orville) Rudey of Lake Mills; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Spangler of Hillsboro and Margaret Drollinger of Wisconsin Rapids; a sister-in-law, Violet (Earl) Schultz of Columbus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her grandson, Brian Thomascheske; her granddaughter, Jody Goratowski; an infant great granddaughter; two brothers, Bill and Burl Callaway; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Lowell United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
The family would like to thank The Meadows of Fall River, Columbus Community Hospital, and the doctors and staff at Poser Clinic for the love and care they gave to Eleanor.
