Ellen J. Kastenmeier

October 22, 1946 - June 14, 2010

Ellen J. Kastenmeier, age 63, of Beaver Dam, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

Visitation for Ellen will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Friday, beginning at 7:00 PM. Following the services, Ellen will be cremated and inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

The former Ellen Joyce Schweiger was born on October 22, 1946 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Edward and Joyce (Bussewitz) Schweiger. After attending Beaver Dam High School, she was united in marriage with Steven Kastenmeier on May 16, 1964 in Beaver Dam. Ellen worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory for about 15 years and also worked at K-Mart in both Beaver Dam and Madison. Some of the things that Ellen enjoyed were coin collecting, gambling at HoChunk Casino, playing bingo, going to arts and crafts fairs, and fishing. She also liked to read, work on the computer, make puzzles, and complete word search books.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Kastenmeier; her children, Dawn (Scott) Gosda of Edgerton, Donna Kastenmeier of Beaver Dam, Bruce (Felicia) Kastenmeier of Goose Creek, SC, and Stephanie Kastenmeier (Steven VanRensselaer) of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Cody Kastenmeier, Elaine Kastenmeier, Gregory Kastenmeier, Alex Gosda, Cassandra Rupprecht, and Christopher Sessions; five great grandchildren, Ethan Kastenmeier, Miley Kastenmeier, Donta Kastenmeier, Joshua Sessions, and Malkia Kastenmeier; her brother, Joseph (Patricia) Schweiger, Sr. of FL; two sisters, Doris Frey (Brian Stengel) of Randolph and Carol (Daniel) Thomas of Beaver Dam, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the family.
