Eugene R. Zarling, age 90, died on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at St. Lukes Medical Center in Milwaukee.
The visitation for Eugene will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at the church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mark Hasty officiating. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon, Wisconsin.
Eugene Robert Zarling was born on December 3, 1917 in Horicon, Wisconsin, to the late Robert and Ella (Lindert) Zarling. He was united in marriage with Beulah Bussewitz on May 9, 1944 in Watertown. Eugene was a life-long resident of Horicon and worked for John Deere Horicon Works. In 1974, Eugene retired after 39 years of employment. Eugene was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army as a platoon leader. He was also a member of the John Deere Spitfires Club, Beaver Dam Senior Citizens and Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon.
Eugene is survived by his daughter, Katherine (Philip) Christensen, of Greendale, granddaughters, Sara (Michael) Holz and Laura (Michael) Peterson, great grandchildren, Jonathan and Allison Peterson, sisters, Verna Wikstrom, of Rockford, IL and Betty Kampen, of Black River Falls, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death, by his wife Beulah.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Eugene”s name to Zion Lutheran Church.
