Evelyn D. Scharschmidt, age 95, of Footville, and formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. The gathering will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael J. Erwin officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Peter Cemetery in Beaver Dam. The former Evelyn Doris Callies was born on August 18, 1923 in rural Juneau, Wisconsin to William and Minnie (Braatz) Callies. She was a 1943 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. On October 28, 1950, she was united in marriage with Donald Joseph Scharschmidt at St. Peter Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Evelyn supported her children in all that they did and was active in Girl Scouts when they were younger. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and Christian Mothers. Evelyn enjoyed numerous vacations in Door County and Naples, Florida. She was a loving wife, caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and a great cook. Evelyn is survived by her husband of almost 68 years, Donald of Footville; daughters, Kathleen Ann (Gary) Larsen of Brodhead and Gena Marie Scharschmidt of Madison; grandchildren, Aaron (Lesley) Larsen of Newport, VT, Brianne (Steven) Burton of Brodhead, and Paige (Jon) Weiland of Zumbrota, MN; great grandchildren, Amelia, Katie, and Julian Larsen, Clara, Iliana, and Emmett Weiland; brother, Reuben (RoseAnne) Callies of Beaver Dam; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; great grandson, Ethan Larsen; and siblings, Walter, Clarence, Arthur, Roland “Boots”, Gilbert, Wilmer, Viola Michaels, Adela Kuehn, Sadie Gentz, Gladys Ladwig, and Mildred Bilke.
