Evelyn M. Schendel

March 8, 1918 - January 4, 2012

Evelyn M. Schendel, age 93, of Horicon, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Winchester Place in Horicon.

A memorial gathering will be held at Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 2:00 PM. Fr. Mike Petrie will officiate. Inurnment will be at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon.

The former Evelyn Marie Madden was born on March 8, 1918 in Columbia County, Wisconsin to the late Joseph and Mathilda (Cuff) Madden. After graduating from Beaver Dam High School, Evelyn was united in marriage with Edgar Schendel on April 23, 1938 in Beaver Dam Wisconsin. Family was very important to Evelyn and she cherished the times spent together with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She volunteered for many organizations through the years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon and the Mayville Senior Center.

Survivors include her son, Dennis (Brenda) Schendel of Pewaukee; her daughter, Susan (Gerald) Haas of Horicon; her foster son, Richard (Dianne) Herrington of Florida; seven grandchildren, Dr. Kevin (Liz) Schendel MD of Lafayette, IN, Betsy (David) Shepherd of Loveland, OH, Megan (Carsten) Birch of LaGrange, IL, Mark (Shelly) Haas of Johnston, IA, Terri Lambrecht (Paul Huss) of Green Bay, Amy (Danny) O”Neil of Milwaukee, and Jessie (Henry) Wolfelschneider of Florida; 17 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Monica Hopkins.

If desired, memorials may be made in Evelyn M. Schendel”s name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Leukemia/Lymphoma Foundation.
