Flora B. Kolterman

February 9, 1930 - June 21, 2018

Flora Belle Kolterman, age 88 of Milwaukee, WI, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.Flora was born the daughter of Alvin and Frances (Hasenzahl) Kolterman on February 10, 1930 in Brownsville, WI. She attended Waupun High School and then Milwaukee State Normal Institute where she received her teaching degree. Flora taught at Lake Bluff Elementary School in Shorewood, WI. She retired after 40 years, teaching 3 generations of children. Flora displayed love for her students and a passion to provide the best education for each of them. Her love of children was also evident in her personal life. She took a special interest in her nieces, nephews and their children. Flora would often babysit; reading to them, playing games and talking about school. She remembered everyone’s birthdays and was there for graduations, weddings and other special occasions.After retirement, Flora treasured the time she spent in Mesa, AZ at the Sunset Resort Park. She was always eager to get back to that ‘warmer climate’ for the winter months. In her spare time Flora enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and nature walks.She is survived by her sister- Kathleen Bird of Mesa, AZ and her brother-Thomas Kolterman of Racine, WI. She is also survived by nieces, and nephews.Flora is preceded in death by her parents, brother Gordon Kolterman, sister Dorothy Kolterman, sisters in law Majorie (Curran) Kolterman and Delores (McGlone) Kolterman, brother in law Stanley Bird, and niece Mary Kay Kolterman.A memorial service will be held at the Oakfield United Methodist Church on July 14th, 2018.Special thanks to the staff of Agnesian Home Health Care and the Hospice Home of Hope for all of the care and support shown to Flora and her family.

My kindergarten teacher in 1963. She was a special kind hearted woman. I have never forgotten her. We all loved her. Rest In Peace.

Miss Kolterman... my very first teacher. Kindergarten... Lake Bluff School... 1957. I remember her fondly... as she walked me home from school one day and had lunch with my mom and me. I remember the paints, the naps on little carpets, the cookies and milk snacks. Junior and senior kindergarten. Wonderful memories. Thank you, Miss Kolterman for being such a beautiful person and creating such great karma for yourself. God bless you on your continued journey through time and space.

I worked along side Flora when I first came to Lake Bluff kindergarten in the 1980's and continued that relationship until her retirement. She was a great mentor. She was thoughtful and kind to her fellow staff members and especially to hundreds of students. I have great memories of Flora and looked forward to her Christmas cards from Arizona , once she retired. My thoughts and prayers to her family.

Flora was an institution at Lake Bluff School. My children went through Kindergarten while Flora was there. She had such a calming influence on the class and a loving smile. As an employee at Lake Bluff Kindergarten we still find things with her name on it!

So sorry to hear that Flora passed on but know that she will be in a wonderful place with her Lord/Father. We didn't know that she was sick after leaving Mesa this year. Our prayers and thoughts go out to all her family. She was a wonderful friend. We enjoyed visiting with her at Sunset Resort. She will be missed.
