Floyd “Flip” Marthaler, age 81, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison on Thursday, June 14, 2012.
A visitation will be held at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 1:30 PM.
Floyd Marthaler was born on November 12, 1930 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Erwin and Cynthia (Bohnert) Marthaler. After graduating from Beaver Dam High School, Flip served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. On November 10, 1956, he was united in marriage with Barbara Bohl at St. Peter”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Flip loved to play golf and was a member of Old Hickory Golf Club for over 50 years. He enjoyed playing bridge with his friends. Flip worked at the First National Bank in Beaver Dam for 35 years. His family was his dearest treasure.
Survivors include his wife Barb Marthaler of Beaver Dam; three children, Julie (Jeff) Grip of Wausau, Michael (Julie) Marthaler of La Crosse, and Jamie (Bill) Bonenberger of Glen Burnie, MD; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Marthaler of Marshall; five grandchildren, Sara (Greg) Knighton of Weston, Ryan Grip, Corey Marthaler, Collin Marthaler, and Megan Marthaler; his sister, Helen (Tony) Westimayer of Horicon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Mark Marthaler.
