Francis “Frank” Koronkiewicz, age 81, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Frank will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Monday at 11:30 AM. Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
Frank was born on March 7, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Peter and Kamilla (Wolinski) Koronkiewicz. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany for four years. On December 22, 1975, he was united in marriage with Frances E. Schueler in Chicago; they moved to Beaver Dam in 1998. Frank worked as a diesel mechanic throughout his life and was a member of the Mechanics Union Local #701 in Chicago. He loved old cars and restored several through the years. Frank was the guy who could fix anything around the house, and he did; no job was too difficult or beyond his ability. He was a member of the Foresters and the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146.
Survivors include his wife Fran and his son, David (fiancAC.e Holly Steinberg) of Beaver Dam; four sons from a previous marriage, Frank (Mary Ann), Rick (Sue), Robert (Danielle), Marc (Maggie), all of Illinois; three step sons (that he raised like his own), John (Cindy) Dunham, Jr. of Waupun, Jeffery Dunham of South Carolina, and Michael Dunham of DeForest; 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Brett, Collin, Zak, Anne, Kate, Rachel, Marc Jr., Eric, Kyle, Alexis, and Emma; seven step grandchildren, Chelsea, Jennifer, Jessica, Nicole, and Alyson Dunham, Devin Yocum, Breana Aseves; a step great granddaughter, Crystal Hays; his sister, Theresa (William) Sawicki of Plainfield, IL; a brother-in law and a sister-in-law, Carl (Bev) Schueler of Beaver Dam and Sharon Stevens of Columbus; other relatives and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Otto and Frances Schueler.
