Garry M. Kirchoff, age 62, of Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at St. Mary”s Hospital in Madison.

A Memorial Gathering will be on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. A memorial service will follow on Saturday at the funeral home at 12:00 Noon with Fr. Michael L. Wild officiating. The American Legion will provide military honors at the funeral home following the service. Inurnment will take place at Leipsig Cemetery in Calamus Township, Dodge County, Wisconsin, at a later date.

Garry Marvin Kirchoff was born on November 11, 1946, to Marvin and Katherine (Holbach) Kirchoff, in Columbus, Wisconsin. He graduated from Horicon High School and in 1966, he entered the United States Marine Corp. Garry attained the level of Sharp Shooter and was honorably discharged in 1972. On October 30, 1985, he was united in marriage with Gwyn Meyer in Dubuque, IA. Garry was a long-haul truck driver for many years and most recently worked for Green Valley as a bus driver. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Brewers, watching NASCAR, and playing in bowling tournaments with his daughter.

Survivors are his wife, Gwyn Meyer, Beaver Dam, daughters, Genna Kirchoff, Beaver Dam, and Terri Luebtke, Green Bay, granddaughter, Samantha Luebtke, mother, Katie Kirchoff, Fox Lake, sisters, Susan (Don) Carroll, Shawnee, KS, and Kathy (Charlie) Schindel, Fox Lake, brothers, Jerry (Sandy) Kirchoff, Chattanooga, TN, Andy (Pat) Kirchoff, Juneau, Edwin Kirchoff, Theresa, Max Kirchoff, Fort Atkinson, and Chuck (Kim) Kirchoff, Westfield, mother-in-law, Vaughn Meyer, Sun Prairie, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean and Nancy Meyer, Watertown, Dane and Ginger Meyer, Streamwood, IL, Gail Riedasch, Sun Prairie, Ward and Anne Meyer, Sun Prairie, Cole and Pat Meyer, Portage, Ben and Emily Meyer, Plover, and Megan and Kevin Mindham, Sun Prairie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Peter, dad, Marvin, father-in-law, Robert Meyer, and brothers, Russell and Royce.

I read your local daily paper on line and came across this obituary of Garry''s passing and wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts, prayers and memories. Gwyn, Genna, and Family, I''m so sorry for your loss. I have some great memories of Garry and your family from when I was much younger and our families used to do quite a bit of stuff together. Just know that you are in my prayers, as well as my dads and the rest of our family.

Dear Genna, I was so sad to hear about your dad. I remember having parent/teacher conferences in 2nd grade at Lincoln with your parents and seeing the love he had for you and your mom. I hope you can eventually replace your sadness with good memories. When my dad died, I received 2 memorable messages that I''d like to share with you. "Sorrow is not forever, love is," and "Perhaps the stars are just holes to Heaven." So I say, "Look up often in the night sky. He''s there!"
