Genevieve E. Kanzenbach, age 96, of Horicon, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation for Genevieve will be at St. Paul”s Episcopal Church, N982 Hwy P in rural Ashippun, on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at church on Friday beginning at 5:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Thomas Lee Holtzen officiating. Private burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
The former Genevieve E. Curphey was born on March 3, 1916 at the family home in Rubicon to the late William and Grace (Swanton) Curphey. She graduated from Oconomowoc High School where she was a letter woman; she also graduated from Dodge County Normal School near Ashippun and taught in a one-room country school. On June 2, 1940, Genevieve was united in marriage with Edgar Kanzenbach at St. Mark”s Episcopal Church in Beaver Dam. Genevieve worked as a beautician for her two sisters at the “Vogue” beauty shop in Oconomowoc. She also loved farm life and enjoyed all the animals. She was active at St. Paul”s Episcopal Church in Ashippun where she was a member of the Women”s Guild. Genevieve worked for years as a volunteer at the Bethesda Fair and the store. She was a 4-H leader for the Rock River Royals where she was able to pass-along her enjoyment for sewing, handicrafts, and gardening.
Survivors include her two children Grace (Curtis) Lehman of Beaver Dam and Kenneth (Diane) Kanzenbach of Horicon; five grandchildren, Daniel (Karen) Lehman, Gwendolyn Grace (Robert) Lynn, Keith (Cindy) Kanzenbach, John (Anne) Kanzenbach, and Faith Biermann; great grandchildren, Jessica (Alex) Contreras, Justin Lehman, RC Alexander Lehman, Sidney Lehman, Cody Genova, Michael Lynn, Hailey Grace Lynn, Kollin Kanzenbach, Brianna Biermann, and Jake Biermann; her great great granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Contreras, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her grandson, Randall Scott Lehman; her brother, Lester Curphey; three sisters, Eleanor, as an infant, June Mansur, and Vera Owen.
