Gerald “Bimel” Kenneth Giese, 79 years old, of Iron Ridge, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at his home.A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge, with the Rev. Larry Mose officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 22nd from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Iron Ridge. Gerald was born on June 26, 1936 to Reinhold H. and Elsie M. (Schmidt) Giese in Iron Ridge, WI. He was united in marriage to Wilma C. Rosenthal on June 27, 1959 at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in the township of Addison. Gerald was a 1954 graduate of Mayville High School. He was formerly employed by Stellmacher’s Feed Mill in Iron Ridge, as well as the Iron Ridge Co-op and Mayville Engineering Company. Gerald retired in 1996 from John Deere Co. where he was employed for 30 years as a machinist.Gerald was a lifelong member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge. He was an usher for St. Matthew’s Church, served on the church council, and was a member of the cemetery committee. Gerald was a member of the Iron Ridge Fire Dept for 53 years. He was also a member of the Iron Ridge Golden Youth and the Gliding Free Bank Club where he enjoyed many trips with Wilma. Gerald was a member of the IAM Union 873. He also enjoyed dancing and the Iron Ridge Firemen’s Picnic. Bimel enjoyed doing yard work and cleaning his cars.Gerald is survived by his wife Wilma C. Giese of Iron Ridge; his children Cheryl (James) Schmidt of Iron Ridge, Randy (special friend Lisa Cherti) Giese of Mayville, and Kathie (special friend Dave Campbell) Schmidt of Iron Ridge; his brothers-in-law Duane Lauersdorf, Gerald (Luise) Rosenthal, Eugene (Charlotte) Rosenthal, David (Doris) Rosenthal, Gordon (Pat) Rosenthal, and Kenneth (Doris) Rosenthal; his sisters-in-law Lois Dornacker and Darlene (Conrad) Scheunemann; his grandchildren Keri Schmidt, Stacy Schmidt, Dustin (Michael Gorham) Schmidt, and Ashley (special friend Tyler Mintzlaff) Schmidt, Zachary (Kayla) Reffke, Brittany Schmidt, and Miranda Giese; his great grandchildren Madison Schmidt, August Homuth, Hayden Schmidt, Hunter Mintzlaff, Kenneth Reffke, Cole Hull, and Tegan Brown; many nieces and nephews, and other close relatives and friends.Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Keri in infancy, his sisters Dorothy (Hurley) Bechert and LuAnn Lauersdorf, and his brother-in-law Ray Dornacker.Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Ev.
