Gertrude L. Winning, 93, of Beaver Dam passed away on Tuesday, July 08, 2014 at Sylvan Crossings in Fitchburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at St. John”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau with Rev. Paul Hirsch officiating. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Township of Trenton, WI.
Gertrude Louise was born the daughter of Paul and Margarethe Louise (Ganskop) Tafelmeyer on June 24, 1921 in Northgate, ND. In 1939, she moved to Beaver Dam to train as a nurse where she met Delmar. She was later married to Delmar Fred Winning on October 22, 1941 in North Dakota. Throughout her career, she was employed as a nurse in obstetrics.
Gertrude was a member of St. John”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau where she served as a member of the ladies aid. She was a member of the Community Concert Association and Homemaker”s Club. Gertrude enjoyed bowling and playing in her card club with friends. She enjoyed traveling and gardening but especially valued to time spent with her family.
Gertrude is survived by her five children: Phyllis (Albert) Frankenstein of Mukwonago, Delmar (Jane) Winning of Beaver Dam, Kathy (John) Ackerman of Oregon, WI, Ginny (Bob) Koch of Beaver Dam, and Donna Winning of Marquette; her siblings: Eunice (Alvin) Jacobson of ND, David (Bobbi) Tafelmeyer of TX and Rose Robinson of ND; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Delmar in 1991; five siblings: Pat Tviet, Sally Stern, Rueben Tafelmeyer, Gerry Tafelmeyer and Ralph Tafelmeyer.
Memorials may be directed to St. John”s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau.
