Gertrude M. Rosensprung, age 84, of Horicon, died Monday, August 29, 2011 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital after months of being cared for at home by her son and daughter-in-law.
Visitation for Gertrude will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on Friday, September 2, 2011 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
The former Gertrude Marie Zickuhr was born on January 15, 1927 in Horicon, Wisconsin to the late Wilhelm and Marie (Schwanz) Zickuhr. She attended St. Stephen Parochial School and graduated from Horicon High School. On November 11, 1945, Gertrude was united in marriage with Adolph Rosensprung at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Adolph preceded her in death on September 8, 1997. Gertrude worked at John Deere Horicon Works for a short time. She loved to bowl and was a Friend of the Library. She was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon and was active in the Ladies Aid dating back to the days when she served with her mother.
Survivors include her son, Carl (Carol) Rosensprung of Muskegon, MI; a step-sister, Louise (Robert) Leonhardt of Roscoe, IL; a niece, Cathy (Robert) Young of Berlin; other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, her step father, Alfred Keske, and her husband.
If desired, memorials may be made in Gertrude Rosensprung”s name to St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, 505 N. Palmatory St. in Horicon.
