Helen E. Cassidy, age 87, of Watertown, WI and formerly of Beaver Dam, WI and Rapid River, MI went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 23, 2014.

Born Nellie Ester Cassidy on January 30, 1926, Helen was the daughter of Michael and Mary M. (Sly) Cassidy, in Gould City, MI. Helen served her country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. She married Arthur E. Vogl on January 30, 1954 and the couple had five daughters.

Helen is survived by her five daughters: Anna Marie Vogl of Green Bay, WI, Dolores (Harry) Swenson of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Barbara Vogl of Rapid River, MI, Carolyn (Jeffery) VanLaanen of Green Bay, WI, and Janet (Parvin) Yachim of Potterville, MI; her sisters: Rose (Jack) Strait of Fruitport, MI, Ruth Cassidy of Arvada, CO, Patricia Yale of Gould City, MI; eight grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, Arthur; her brothers: Fred, John, and Joe; and her sisters: Ida McCallum, Catherine Groleau and Elizabeth O’Neil.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI with the Rev. Karl Walther officiating. A visitation will also be held on Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Rapid River Cemetery, Rapid River, MI in the springtime.
