Henry C. Bock was born on February 14, 1922 in the Town of Hampton, Columbia County, Wisconsin to the late George J. and Ella (Eggert) Bock. He was confirmed on April 5, 1936 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. On August 19, 1944, he was united in marriage with Delores J. Mintzlaff at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Hustisford. Henry worked on his parent”s farm in Arlington, Wisconsin when he was first married and then joined his father-in-law, Herbert Mintzlaff, in a milk route, which was called Mintzlaff and Bock. Henry later bought out that route and ran it for five more years. He then moved to Hustisford where he ran the projector at the town theater (former Starr building) and also at the Beaver Dam outdoor theater; he also drove a school bus in the Hustisford district. Henry managed the Skelly station for many years, which was the hangout for many of the locals; he sold ice cream bars, soda, and candy bars there, as well as being a full-service gas station complete with windshield wash, oil check, and your gas pumped at each stop. He also ran a wrecker service out of the Skelly station for many years and was always on call 24/7. He was always ready to go and help someone but was greatly saddened to get there and find tragedy had struck one of the local people in his community. After retiring from the Skelly station, he found part-time work at ITW Bee Leitzke doing janitorial jobs, which he greatly enjoyed until he reached the age of 81 years. He was also on-call there any time of the day or night and actually enjoyed having to open the building at 5:00 AM for the workers. He did cleaning, recycling duties, drove the forklift if needed, and anything else he was asked to do; he loved talking and joking with the people there every day. Henry was always a familiar sight at ITW with his cleaning bucket, mop, and plaid flannel shirt! Henry was a “people person” and he was always willing to help people if needed. He had a fondness for old cars and he loved to tease his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Hustisford Village Board for many years, serving on various committees. He was also a long-time active member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Hustisford where he served as an usher for many years. He was a man of many talents.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Bock; his three children, David (Kathie) Bock of Hustisford, Sheryl Salmon of Grapevine, TX, and Duane (Annette) Bock of West Bend; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Melissa) Bock of DePere, Trisha (Peder) Monis of Ashippun, Kevin (Amanda) Salmon of Houston, TX, Tracie Bock, Chelsey Bock, Megan Bock, and Cole Bock; five great grandchildren, Elise Bock, Abigail Monis, Jack Monis, Amelia Bock, and Meredith Bock, other relatives and friends.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, a great grandson, Grant W. Monis, and two brothers, Wally Bock and Harold Bock.
