Ila L. Kastenmeier, age 91, a life-long Beaver Dam resident, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Ila will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
The former Ila Louise Polzin was born on February 2, 1919 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Clement and Elsa (Schindel) Polzin. On October 24, 1936, she was united in marriage with John Kastenmeier in Beaver Dam. Ila and John were active in the community and enjoyed Beaver Dam. Ila learned sign language and worked for several schools in the area as an interpreter. She had been a member of the St. Michael”s Rosary Society and was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.
Survivors include her daughter, Marlene (Ronald) Bennett of Beaver Dam; three grandchildren, Cindy Bennett of Milwaukee, Tim (Jenny) Bennett of Menomonee Falls, and Marc (Barb) Bennett of Brownsburg, Indiana; five great grandchildren, Alex Bennett, Ashley Bennett, and Teddy Bennett, all of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Max and Jon Bennett, both of Menomonee Falls; her sister, Irene Karst of Greenfield; her brother, Roland Polzin of Manitowoc; her son-in-law, Bob Sommers of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a daughter, Marcia Sommers.
If desired, memorials may be made in Ila Kastenmeier”s name to Hillside Manor, 803 S. University Avenue, Beaver Dam, WI 53916, or for masses to be said in her memory.
