Jane Elizabeth Bushke (nee Firehammer), age 70, of Manitowoc, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2018 at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay surrounded by her family.A memorial service for Jane will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon with the Rev. Daniel Vojta officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 8 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the church. A luncheon will follow the service and inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.Jane was born the daughter of Willard and Katherine (Schombor) Firehammer on May 26, 1948 in Beaver Dam. She was a 1966 graduate of Horicon High School and then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from UW Oshkosh. Jane was united in marriage to James Bushke on August 30, 1969 in Clyman.Jane touched many hearts and enriched countless lives. With a warm, loving smile, and a patient heart and countless stories, Jane made life-long friends everywhere she went. And go Jane did!With a love of travel and talent in the medical field, Jane enjoyed 50 years as a histotech, and 20 years traveling across the country teaching and training others in her chosen field.Traveling from Texas to Alaska and so many places in between, Jane lived her life to the fullest, gathering and sharing stories every step along the way.Jane’s love of travel was equal to her love of cooking, canning, and sharing recipes with her family and friends.Jane also enjoyed camping, bowling, golfing, fishing, reading, and playing cribbage. She also had a deep love for her pets (and a considerable aversion to birds).Packer Sundays always proved special as friends across the country heard Jane cheering on her beloved Pack.Jane will be missed by many.She is survived by her sons- Michael (special friend Rachelle) Bushke of Fairbanks, AK., Christopher (special friend Stacy) Bushke of Sun Prairie, Adam (Mary) Bushke of Sherwood, and Lucas Bushke of Portland, OR. Her grandsons- Trevor Bushke and Michael (Teri) Horn. Her granddaughter- Sarah (Alex) Salisott. Her special friend Charles ‘Chuck’ Ostdick. Her sisters in law- Mary Ann Firehammer of Beaver Dam and Monica Kurbiec of Puillop, WA. Her brother in law- Jeff (Hyon-Suh) Bushke of Fairbanks, AK. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her in laws Harold (Marie) Bushke, her brothers James Firehammer and David Firehammer, and her sister in law Marlene St. Claire.Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon.
